BUYERS

WITHOUT AGENT
WITH AGENT

With my associate Marc Holmes, I regularly assist people in purchasing a new home. Our legal services and counsel throughout the buying process have helped many people through a difficult and daunting endeavor -- one where there is an awful lot of money at stake!

If you've decided to buy a home -- or are thinking about doing so -- you should seriously consider hiring an attorney rather than an agent to assist you in doing so.  Agents made a lot of sense in the past, but given changes in the system they may no longer be the best option. Today, most buyers at least begin their search for a new home using the internet. If you forego an agent, the most difficult part of the process will be getting inside your selected homes to see what they actually look like (never trust a picture on the internet). Once you decide to make an offer, though, you can save yourself a lot of money if you use an attorney instead of an agent.

Regardless of whether you have an agent, the purchase of a home is a legal transaction worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. In completing this transaction, you will sign many documents that will significantly impact your legal rights and liabilities. Given these consequences, you should at least consider hiring an attorney when buying a home.
